1935 - 2013

Clarence passed away peacefully at Boundary Hospital, Grand Forks with his beloved wife Ella of 58 years at his side on Monday, April 29, 2013 in his 79th year. Lovingly remembered by children, Clifford Thate (Anneliese), Barry Thate (Tina), Brian Thate (Monica) and Barbara Wilkie (Gord); grandchildren, Steven, Chris, Lindsey (Scott), Graham, Tara, Taylor, Alexa, Amanda, Brook, Sarah and Stephen; great-grandchildren, Kai and Logan. Survived by mother, Irene Thate; brothers, Lawrence Thate (Joyce); Howard Thate (Dorothy) and sister Joyce Green (Bob).

Clarence was a truck driver/manager of the Rock Creek Chevron Bulk Plant for Jim Olsen. Clarence and Ella enjoyed extensive travel before and after retirement. He volunteered in Westbridge Recreation; served on the school board and was Board Chairman in School District 13; volunteered with AA doing service work. Clarence enjoyed woodworking and loved working with his hands.

A Celebration of Clarence’s life will be held on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 1 p.m., at Rock Creek Fairgrounds. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 4-1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna BC V1Y 9M9 would be appreciated by the family.
