It made for a long Friday afternoon shift and some overtime for some of the Cantex employees working on Greenwood’s waterline replacement project on July 5 when a tree split at a fork in the trunk and fell onto the telephone lines near where they were working. It was fortunate for those still on landline telephone service that the crew was nearby because Cantex used their equipment to take the weight of the tree off the lines and prevent the tree from falling onto Hwy 3. Cantex provided flagging for single-lane alternating traffic until some experts could be called in to bring the tree down safely.
