Liberal riding executives meet in Greenwood

With the next federal election still over a year away parties are starting to get organized.

The executive of the Liberal Riding Association for the newly formed South Okanagan West Kootenay federal riding met in the Greenwood courtroom above City Hall on Sunday, April 27.

Bob Nicholson, Communications Chair Greenwood said the city was chosen as a centrally located venue for the meeting—with three members coming from Penticton, one from Naramata and another four from Rossland.

Nicholson said they met from 1 to 4 in the afternoon and were very impressed with the heritage courtroom as well as the many buildings in the downtown core.

He reported they have not yet chosen a candidate for the riding; indeed they are encouraging interested individuals to come forward.

He said the fixed election date is October 2014, but that could change. The executives would like to get a high-quality candidate nominated early and begin fund-raising to build a war chest.
