A single vehicle accident shortly after midnight on Friday, Jan. 17 earned the driver a ride to the hospital and charges by the RCMP.

Midway RCMP report that at 12:45 a.m. that Friday morning, RCMP, West Boundary Highway Rescue and Greenwood Fire Department attended to a single vehicle accident on Hwy 3 at Norwegian Creek Road. “An SUV did not make the curve in the road and ended up in the ditch on its roof on the opposite side of the highway,” said Corporal Kevin Christensen. “The single male occupant inside the vehicle suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The male was later charged with failing to keep right as well as not having a valid driver’s license. “

Christensen said the driver was also served with an indefinite unlicensed driving prohibition.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, Midway police received a complaint of a break and enter into the Petro Canada Gas Station in Rock Creek. Christensen told the Times in an email that the suspect kicked in the front glass door and stole alcohol from the store. An attempt to steal cigarettes was made as well.

“The very next day the Midway RCMP arrested and charged Joshua Letendre, recently of Rock Creek, with Break and Enter, Theft, and Mischief,” said Christensen. He was released from custody on several police enforceable conditions.

Police report that a purple suitcase was dropped off at the Midway RCMP detachment. The suitcase was found in Midway by the recycle bins, and contains women’s clothing and a pair of cowboy boots.
