Shaw off to provincials

Bailey Shaw, of Greenwood, is one of five Boundary youngsters heading to the BC Hockey Provincial Their 3 Championships.

Greenwood teen Bailey Shaw and the South Okanagan midget hockey team have earned a berth at the B.C. Hockey Provincial Tier 3 Championships March 15-20 in Dawson Creek. The team won both the banner for first in their league and for winning the playoff championship last weekend.

Shaw, who plays le wing, scored two goals and two assists in their final playoff game.

Five Boundary youth are on the team: as well as Shaw, there are four players from Grand Forks: Josh Hammet, Colby Horne and Brydan Thomas and Chase McKay.

A fundraising dance is set for this Friday, March 6 at the Sonora Centre in Osoyoos.

All coffee sales at Race Trac Gas are being donated to the trip. According to Bailey’s father, Gerry Shaw, the cost of a trip like this gets into five figures pretty fast so any additional donations are appreciated.
