Yasodhara Ashram is preparing to celebrate the grand opening of the new Temple of Light, rebuilt following a 2014 fire.
“We are excited to celebrate the official opening of our new Temple of Light which recognizes the light in all spiritual traditions and the divine spark in each person,” says Swami Lalitananda, Yasodhara Ashram president. “This is also a wonderful opportunity to thank our community and supporters for their contribution in the return of this special symbol of peace, hope and unity for all.”
On Saturday, June 23, visitors are invited to attend the Temple Of Light grand opening and Strawberry Social, explore the Ashram, and enjoy delicious Creston strawberries in a warm community gathering. Activities include:
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Strawberry Social – strawberry shortcake and cream
Children’s zone with activities
Annual book sale (proceeds from the book sale will be donated to the Crawford Bay School Hot Lunch Program)
2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Ribbon cutting ceremonies at the Temple

Completed in the fall of 2017, the Temple of Light was reconstructed after a fire in June 2014 destroyed the original Temple. It was prefabricated by Spearhead of Nelson and designed by award-winning Patkau Architects of Vancouver.
