PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN AS FOLLOWS:

NOTICE OF ELECTION BY VOTING

An election by voting is to be held to elect one Councillor, and that the following persons are candidates for office:

COUNCILLOR – One (1) to be elected

RHODES, CJ - 206 Long Lake Ave., Greenwood, BC

MOORE, Linda May - 521 Denver Ave., Anaconda, Area E, RDKB

TORGERSON, Julia - 817 Kimberley Ave., N, Greenwood BC

VOTING DATES AND LOCATIONS

GENERAL VOTING DAY will be open to qualified electors of the City of Greenwood on:

Saturday, November 18, 2023

between the hours of 8:00 am to 8:00 pm

at the McArthur Centre Community Hall

located at 1355 Veteran’s Lane, Greenwood, BC

ADVANCE VOTING DAY will be open to qualified electors of the City of Greenwood on:

Wednesday, November 8, 2023

between the hours of 8:00 am to 8:00 pm

ELECTOR REGISTRATION

If you are not on the list of electors, you may register at the time of voting by completing the application form available at the voting place and making a declaration that you meet the requirements to be registered as set out below:

RESIDENT ELECTORS:

To register as a resident elector, you must:

• be 18 years of age or older on general voting day;

• be a Canadian citizen;

• be a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration (at time of voting);

• be a resident of the City of Greenwood on the day of registration (at time of voting); and

• not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or assent voting and not otherwise disqualified by law.

NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY ELECTORS:

To register as a non-resident property elector, you must:

• be 18 years of age or older on general voting day;

• be a Canadian citizen;

• be a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration (at time of voting);

• be a registered owner of real property in the City of Greenwood for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration (at time of voting);

• not be entitled to register as a resident elector; and

• not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or assent voting and not otherwise disqualified by law.

In addition, for non-resident property electors:

• the only persons who are registered owners of the property, either as joint tenants or tenants in common, are individuals who are not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust; and

• if more than one person is the registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector.

In addition, in order to register at time of voting:

To register, resident electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency and identity.

To register, non-resident property electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and, if there is more than one owner of the property, written consent from the other property owners.

MAIL BALLOT VOTING

REQUESTING A MAIL BALLOT PACKAGE:

Commencing on November 1, 2023, if you wish to vote by mail, you must submit the following information to the City of Greenwood office by mail (202 S. Government Ave, PO Box 129, Greenwood BC, V0H 1J0), telephone (250-445-6644), fax (250-445-6441) or email frontdesk@greenwoodcity.ca (no later than 4:00 pm November 10th, 2023:

1. Full name,

2. Residential address,

3. Address of the property in relation to which you are voting (for non-resident property electors),

4. Method of delivery of your mail ballot package:

• pick up at office or, the name of the person you authorize to pick up the package; or

• regular letter mail through Canada Post.

5. If you are not on the list of electors, you must indicate whether you are going to be registering as a resident or non-resident property elector.

To be counted, your mail ballot must be received by the Chief Election Officer no later than 8:00 pm on Saturday, November 18th, 2023 of General Voting Day.
