Just over half-way through the season, the Eholt Woodticks have climbed their way to a strong lead atop the standings of the Boundary Adult Hockey League (BAHL), dropping just three matches through 16 games played. With the near inverse record (three wins, 11 losses and a tie), the Phoenix Miners have dug their way to the bottom, just under the Borderline Bears.
The Woodticks have been helped to the top this season thanks to league scoring leader Jerris Gregory, who has tallied nearly four points per game played (30 goals, 28 assists through 15 games). Gregory is nearly 20 points clear of teammate TJ Sebastian for the league lead, while the Hardy Mountain Herd’s Josh Mace rounds out the top-three scorers at 30 points.
When he’s not behind the bench of the Junior B Grand Forks Border Bruins, John Clewlow has been filling the net too for the Granby River Buschmen, notching 18 goals and 11 assists in 12 games played.
Going into the second half of the BAHL season, Midway will be looking to build of their hometown tournament victory in December, when they defeated the Phoenix Miners, league-leaders the Eholt Woodticks and the Borderline Bears en route to victory at the inaugural Midway Classic. Midway currently sits second in the league, eight points back of the Woodticks with two games in hand (as of Jan. 4, 2020).
