August 2, 1925 - April 30, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Bill was born on August 2, 1925, joined the R.C.A.F. in 1943 and served in England and Scotland.
After the war, he earned an Assistant Ranger position at Rossland, BC. Before he was transferred to Kettle Valley Ranger District in 1949, he married Virginia Gasporotto, also from Fernie.
He was promoted to Forest Ranger in 1953 and was put in charge of the Kettle Valley District, where he remained until 1969, when he joined Pope & Talbot as woods manager. Bill retired in 1990 as Vice President of Timberlands.
Bill spent his retirement at the family home in Midway before developing Alzheimer's and moving to Mariposa Gardens in Osoyoos in February 2019.
Bill passed peacefully in his sleep on April 30, 2021. He was predeceased by his wife Virginia in 1976; his eldest granddaughter Angela in 2012 and his daughter Gail in 2014.
Bill will be fondly remembered by his loving family including son Allan (Evy); grandchildren Jodi (Mike), Lee (Meg), Jill (John) and Jesse (Shawna); Angela's husband Rob; thirteen great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Midway Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Mariposa Gardens and Nunes- Pottinger Funeral Service for the compassion and care extended to Bill.
