Stephen Flynn Smith of Rock Creek, B.C. passed away suddenly July 22, 2013. Stephen was born January 17,1949 and raised in Rossland, BC. He is survived by his wife Klara; son Michael, daughter-in-law Leslie and granddaughters Ivy and Anna of Greenwood, B.C.; son Ben of Rock Creek; mother Margaret Scott of Rossland; brother Richard and wife Darlene of Kimberly; nephew Kurstun Smith and family of Nelson; his mother-in-law Matild Puskas, brother-in-law Frank Puskas of Midway; aunts Ruth Grubisic of Rossland; Kory McKim of Nelson; and uncle John Eek of Rock Creek; numerous cousins, many good friends and acquaintances.

Stephen was a Journeyman carpenter by trade and worked in heavy construction. He worked on all the bridges from Midway to Canyon Bridge, logged for himself and others as well as many other jobs. He owned his own portable mill and did custom cutting for many people. He was always ready and willing to help anyone who needed help of any kind. In his retirement years he amazed himself by learning to use a computer and surf the net, looking up logging, how to do projects on the lathe, and old western movies. He loved to show off his shop, tools and woodworking projects.
