March 4, 2020
It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of Ronald Sather of Greenwood, BC on March 4, 2020.
He passed away peacefully after a horrific battle with cancer, in Kelowna, BC
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Evie Sather, and his children, Deborah Sather, of Victoria, Tawney Geoghegan, of Bedford, Nova Scotia, and his son Jamie (Tracy) Sather, of Victoria, as well as his step-son, Lyle (Silvia) Elley, of Burns Lake, BC. He leaves 7 grandchildren, Jordan, Melanie, Olivia, Tristan, Braeden, Cole, and Davis, and step grandchildren, Charmayne, and Shawn, as well as 2 great step grandchildren, Jordan and Wyatt. He was a devoted father and grandfather to them all, and a wonderful, loving husband and friend.
Ron worked throughout the Boundary area, working with Andy Shelton Electric for several years, as well as on construction with Mike Oneil and Al Strauss, and got to know many people in the area that he interacted with. He also was involved in the Community of Greenwood over the years, as bingo caller at McArthur Centre, and as a member of the Senior Organization. He also volunteered for Winterfest, and Founder's Day in Greenwood. He was a member of the Greenwood Legion Branch #155 for a number of years and served as Padre for 2 years there.
He loved karaoke, and sang throughout the Boundary area and even into Orient Washington, where he made many wonderful friends. Ron had a deep faith in God, and it showed in his love of life.
He loved to sing gospel and country music, and sang at Evangel Church in Greenwood for several years. He was such a people person, and he just loved people wherever he went. He always said, "I never have a bad day. If my feet hit the floor in the morning, it's a good day". And it was true, he never had a bad day, until at the end.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, but none more that Evie, and his loving family. Life will never be the same for any of us, but we have a Hope that we will see him again on the other side one day. Rest in Peace, out of pain, until then, Ron. Love always, from us all.
