Myrna Catherine Coburn, age 69, of Midway, B.C. passed away on June 2, 2013 at Boundary Hospital in Grand Forks. She gallantly fought the cancer that eventually took her away.

Myrna was born in Vancouver, B.C. on June 21, 1943. She graduated from North Burnaby High School in 1962.

Myrna and John were married in Toronto, Ontario on August 10, 1966. Myrna’s work career started with filing for the family business, Glenburn Excavating Company Limited, and progressed to keypunch operator for companies like Crouse Hinds and IBM. As an entrepreneur she operated her own data entry/software installation company and eventually took over the family business.

Myrna was an active volunteer in her community in such projects as Movies and Popcorn at the local school, the community garden at Stoney Creek in Burnaby and the Burnaby Volunteer Centre.

Myrna was a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Burnaby Deer Lake and served as secretary and Exchange Student Chair. In the Rotary District she was involved with Rotaract and the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Program.

Myrna is survived by husband John, sister Colleen, daughters Teresa and Katherine, grandchildren Leanne, Jessica and Robert, many nieces and nephews.

Myrna is preceded in death by her parents Katherine Mahaffey (nee Pozzo), born in Kamloops, B.C., and Jim Mahaffey, born in Belfast, Ireland.
