On May 4th, 2019, Mrs. Marguerite Rotvold (Smithers) passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with cancer at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC at the age of 74.
Marguerite is survived by her son Edward (Jennifer) and grandchildren Peyton & Levi. Sisters Carol, Robbie (George) & brother in law Joey. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, numerous friends and respected colleagues.
Predeceased by her husband Eddie, father Buster, mother Kay, sister Pat and brother in law Joe.
Marguerite was born in Penticton, BC on October 31, 1944. She was raised in Oliver, BC, moving to Nelson for post-secondary education. Once Marguerite received her teaching credentials, she was on the move to Canal Flats where she met her loving husband Eddie.
Marguerite and Eddie were married at Fort Steele on October 12, 1974. They had their one and only son Edward in July of 1976 and decided to move to Midway in 1981. Eddie then retired, and Marguerite started with the Canada Customs Agency as the local border guard.
When they moved to Midway, Marguerite immersed herself in municipal politics for the next 31 years.
Marguerite leaves a legacy of involvement to her little Village of Midway, RDKB as well as many other groups and organizations.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 in Midway, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boundary Lodge in Grand Forks, BC.
