Fran, aged 63, after waging a second battle with cancer, left this world November 20, 2013 with a smile on her face and as usual, the last word. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Dorothy Bjerke and half-sister Patsy Babiuk. Survived by her husband of 42 years, Ross Elliott, daughters Maegan (Martin) Elfert, Garrity Elliott, son Jared Elliott, grandchildren Rylee and Dwight Elfert, sister Linda (Marlin) Timko, many nieces and nephews, her best friend Vivian Desgagne and her daughter Courtney Crawford along with a ton of in- laws and extended family. Over her 35 years in Midway, Fran formed many friendships through her volunteer and community work throughout the valley. She went through life with gusto, humor, a smile on her face, and along with her honesty, her open mind and sharp tongue, she called a spade a spade. She was not afraid to tackle anything or anybody and she loved to go to battle for the underdog and downtrodden. She will be greatly missed by her many tax clients, especially her seniors and students for whom she waged and won all of her battles against her arch-enemies, the bureaucrats at MSP and Revenue Canada. R.I.P. Fran, your earthly battles are done. At her request, there will be no service and she said, “I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one and I’d like to leave an echo”.
