The West Boundary Community Forest made a series of donations to area food banks last week, according to organization executives.

The community forest is jointly owned by the City of Greenwood and the Village of Midway, which receive funds through timber sales to area mills, including Midway’s Vaagen Fibre.

Secretary Ross Elliott said the organization made $1,000 donations to the Rock Creek Food Share, the Greenwood Food Bank and Midway’s drop-in centre, The Bridge. The community forest regularly contributes to area food banks to promote regional food security, he added.

The community forest also gave $500 to the Greenwood Community Association for its upcoming Christmas dinner, he said.
