The Rock Creek Community Medical Society celebrated 40 successful years last Thursday with a reception and reminiscences from longtime members.

The Rock Creek Community Medical Society is a registered charity the operates the Rock Creek Medical Centre and grounds, and came into existence when local residents took action to bring high-quality medical services to their rural neighbourhood in Rock Creek. The property for the medical centre was donated by Anton Bartelings in memory of his wife, Nadia.

In the last two years, major renovations have been completed on the centre, including a new roof, interior and exterior painting, new flooring and LED lighting. As a registered charity, the Rock Creek Community Medical Society is always happy to receive donations and can issue tax receipts.

The current executive is Harald Zinner as president; Bill Bosovich as vice-president; Sandy Fairburn as secretary/treasurer; and Bonnie Edstrom, Patricia O’Brien, Pamela Dyrda and Hazel Self as directors.

At the celebration on Thursday, of the attendees shared the history of the society, from its inception to what it has become today, and the many people who have helped along the way. Hazel Self and Gail McLean gave overviews of the current services the centre offers, including mental health counselling, massage therapy, and chiropractic in addition to kids programming and physical health services. Society president Harald Zinner spoke about the improvements to the building over the years and recognized the many donors including the RDKB and the province, who have contributed to the running of the building.
