Public comment is invited into a comprehensive timber supply review for the Boundary Timber Supply Area.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations (MFLNRO) is seeking comments on a public discussion paper released July 5, 2013 or any other issues related to the timber supply review for the Boundary TSA.

According to a government press release issued last week, the chief forester will consider the public’s comments before setting a new allowable annual cut. Comments are being accepted until Sept. 5, 2013.

The 18-page public discussion document provides a summary of the results of the timber supply analysis and an overview of factors affecting the allowable annual cut. It states that MFLNRO staff would be pleased to answer questions to help the public in preparation of responses.

The current allowable annual cut is 700,000 cubic metres. The Boundary Timber Supply Area covers about 659,000 hectares, but only slightly over 272,000 hectares is available for timber harvesting.
