Police locate stolen property

A lucky find for the police, a drunk driver arrested in stolen vehicle, and outstanding warrants against two Greenwood men.

On Saturday, Aug. 31, Midway RCMP were called to a residence at 1639 Highway 33 in Rock Creek for a report of dangerous driving, hit and run, and uttering threats.

According to Midway RCMP Corporal Kevin Christensen, while at the property police located a stolen white cube van, a stolen flat deck trailer, and a stolen excavator from Kelowna.

This investigation is still ongoing.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, RCMP were alerted to a stolen vehicle swerving all over the road as it traveled west on Highway 3 between Greenwood and Midway.

When RCMP stopped the vehicle the driver was found to be very intoxicated, police reported.

The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Medicine Hat, Alberta. The driver was also prohibited from driving anywhere in Canada. The 54-year-old male driver faces numerous charges and will make his first court appearance in Grand Forks on Sept. 15.

Midway RCMP are asking the public for help in locating Joseph Kirschner and Matthew Straume. According to Christensen, both men have outstanding arrest warrants.

Kirschner is wanted for fail to appear in court on charges of unlawfully at large and causing a pursuit.

Straume is wanted on numerous warrants for breaching his probation.
