Greenwood’s Board of Trade will meet at City Hall for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, to discuss the all candidates meeting (ACM) it will host ahead of October’s municipal byelection.

The special meeting will be open to board members and the general public and will address ACM logistics, according to president Martin Huhn.

Board vice president Hendrik van Wyk has recused himself from the meeting because he is running for city councillor in the byelection.

Candidates Charlene Izuka and Mark Seymour are also running for council.

Candidates Carolina Hopkins, Barry Noll and Gerry Shaw are running for mayor.

Advance polls open at the MacArthur Centre Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 8 a.m. through 8 p.m.

General polls open at the centre on election day, Saturday, Oct. 10, also from 8 a.m. through 8 p.m.

The byelection was triggered by the March 2020 resignation of former mayor Ed Smith. Then councillor Gerry Shaw subsequently resigned his seat in a bid to replace Smith.
