Margaret and Johnny Eek of Rock Creek celebrated their 7Oth wedding anniversary on May 7, and enjoyed a wonderful celebration party at the Rock Creek fairground, with many well-wishers dropping by to offer their congratulations. Married the day before Victory in Europe Day in 1945, the Eeks recalled how their wedding in Rossland took place during an unbelievably emotional few days, as word of the ceasefire made its way over the airwaves. Asked why they have enjoyed such a successful marriage, Margaret replied ‘he was always my rock’. Here’s to 75 Margaret and Johnny!
