Some lucky members of the Castlegar Skating Club were given the opportunity to train with some of the best of the best last weekend, thanks to the Skate Kootenay Region.
The 2024 Learn to Train Seminar was held in Creston on Sept. 28-29 and led by Elvis Stojko and Gladys Orozco.
Stojko is a Canadian figure skater who is a three-time world champion (1994, 1995, 1997), two-time Olympic silver medallist (1994, 1998), and seven-time Canadian champion (1994, 1996–2000, and 2002).
Orozco is a professional figure skater, choreographer and show skater who holds two senior and two junior national titles. She is also married to Stojko.
The Learn to Train seminar was open to all STARSkaters and figure skating coaches of the Kootenay Region. The seminar was a two day event with a focus on both on ice and off ice disciplines. It was an invaluable experience and memorable time for all participants.
