A Greenwood man has died after a two-vehicle accident closed Highway 3 for much of the day yesterday.

Boundary RCMP and West Kootenay Traffic Services are investigating after the fatal head-on collision cravsh at 7 a.m. yesterday morning, one kilometre east Midway.

The crash involved a 30-year-old Greenwood man westbound in a Ford F150 truck and a logging truck.

The Ford F150 crossed the centre line on a curve in the road. The oncoming logging truck was “unable to avoid the collision,” said Sgt. Cad Badry with West Kootenay Traffic Services in a press release issued Wednesday.

The logging truck was driven by a 53-year-old man, also from Greenwood. He was not seriously injured.

“The subsequent investigation determined that changing road conditions and speed relative to

those conditions were likely contributing factors to the collision,” the release notes.

RCMP report the highway was closed for nine hours to complete scene clean-up and investigation.
