As the days get shorter and the nights grow cool, things are warming up for the Midway Community Club and our fall and winter activities.

Yoga lessons will resume soon (watch for posters with dates and contact info). Our highly qualified, excellent teachers are great at adapting the exercises to suit everyone’s level of physical fitness. Loosen up, get fit and don’t strain that back! Join your friends and neighbours for these fun and invigorating sessions.

Ballet and hip-hop dance lessons for children are all lined up for fall and the kids are keen and ready to go. Registration is still open but spots are filling up, so act now if your young ones want to learn the moves to Tschaikovsky or even Drake!

The Midway and Beyond Little Theatre has assembled a stellar cast and will soon begin rehearsals for the January production of an hilarious comedy. Meanwhile the Hallowe’en warm up station and bonfire, along with the children’s Christmas party, are long-standing traditions we always look forward to.

We’re hoping to add some new activities this season including dancercise (dance and exercise combined) and possibly art lessons. We’re even hatching a plan to show plays or concerts held in global cultural centres like London and New York. It’s a variation on ‘movie nights’ that would bring incredible live performances to the Community Hall’s big screen.

As always, watch for our display board outside McMynn’s grocery and the Pharmacy/Midway Library, along with posters around the Boundary and ads in the Times. We’ll keep you updated as plans unfold.

The Midway Community Club is truly grateful to everyone who took the time to respond to our on-line survey, asking Boundary residents “What are your interests?” You had some great suggestions and we appreciate the feedback.

Attendance for this past spring’s Abbotsford Youth Orchestra performance was outstanding, with folks coming from Grand Forks to Bridesville and the U.S. The music was wonderful and enjoyed by a full house. We’ll do our best to seize on future opportunities as they arise and bring more great music to our community.

If you have ideas for future events, feel free to email us!

If any Times readers know someone willing to teach line dancing in Midway, we’d welcome their contact information. We’ve had a lot of folks say they’d love us to provide dance lessons for adults and especially line dancing lessons!

Let’s ramp up the fun in the Boundary! Email us if you’d be willing to join the board of the Midway Community Association. It doesn’t take much time, and we need more help! Let us know if you’d like to volunteer to help at events and send us your ideas for activities anytime. Thanks to the survey respondents who have already offered to pitch in –we’ll be in touch. Together, we can make the Boundary an even better place to live.
