Midway RCMP are working to thwart a plot by an infamous cartoon Christmas villain to steal Christmas.

Pictures sent to police Thursday, Dec. 17 showed an effigy of the Dr. Seuss character known as “the Grinch” prominently displayed outside the village detachment.

Cpl. Phil Peters said he wasn’t sure who put up the cartoon effigy. Investigators believe the texts came from a cell phone number they attributed to the Grinch’s dog, Max.

“We think he was taunting us when he stopped by to take the pictures,” Peters told The Times.

The effigy was lit up when police photographed it Thursday evening.
