Stewart finishes season with gold medal

BCSS student Emily Stewart took gold in Kelowna on March 7 at the B.C./Yukon Starskate Super Series.

Star Skate Super Series was held in Kelowna, March 6-8, 2015. This is a BC/Yukon competition for figure skaters.

The Sunbowl Figure Skating Club in Osoyoos had four young ladies skating in this competition. The club came home with two silver medals and one gold medal.

Emily Stewart belongs to the Sunbowl FSC and is a student at BCSS. Four days a week she skates in Osoyoos.

Emily skated Senior Bronze Free Skate. She has been in three competitions this season. At the Okanagan Interclub on Nov. 29 she placed silver.

At the Okanagan Regionals, in Armstrong on Feb. 14 she again placed silver. On March 7 in Kelowna, at the B.C./Yukon Starskate Super Series, she finished her season with a gold medal. Her mark, a personal best score of 23.92, was more than three points higher than the closest skater. Emily also received Senior Bronze Champion Trophy for the highest mark in senior bronze in B.C., Andrea Umstaetter is her coach.
