RoSco Ranch in Westbridge held a cattle-penning competition on Saturday that drew 30 riders, enough to make up 10 teams.

“A bunch of friends wanted to still have an event so I put one on,” said organizer Scott Thordarson.

The buckles were presented at a steak potluck dinner following the day of competition. Thordarson said there was $1,600 in prize money given out.

There were 60 rides on Saturday. They were going to have a jackpot on Sunday but decided to just chase some cows instead.

Thordarson’s partner, Rosi Tan, said about 70 or 80 people came out for the event. RoSco Ranch holds penning events every second weekend through the summer.
