With the support of parents and the community the grade 6-7 students from Greenwood Elementary made their way to Vancouver and Victoria this spring. These photos and stories were sent in by way of thanks by teacher Cathy Pankoff and two of the students.

STEPHANIE DAYLEY

have been looking forward to the Vancouver trip for at least two years and now that it is over I know that I will always cherish the memories of the people we met and the places we went.

Although it’s sad that it’s already over the experience was so exciting and educational, I loved it. I can’t write about everything we did even though I wish I could.

So instead I’ll write about my favourite places, like in Vancouver we went to the aquarium. We saw a dolphin, sharks, stingrays, sea stares, jellyfish, a beluga whale, penguins and a lot more. We learned a lot about sea creatures and how they live.

We also went to Grouse Mountain. To get to the top we had to travel in the gondola then stop to watch the lumberjack show. After that we got on a ski lift up to the top where we took an elevator up the wind turbine, the wind turbine was over 200 feet high and I’m afraid of heights so I pretty much stuck to the sides.

Some other places that we went were the BC Royal Museum in Victoria, Playland, laser tag, Manning Park, Science World, the BC Legislature, The Victoria Bug Zoo, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, BC Ferries (from Vancouver to Victoria), a beach in Victoria, Gastown (steam clock), etc.

At the end of each “LONG” day we had a peaceful sleep at the University of British Columbia! So all in all I want to thank all of the people who donated or helped fundraise for our Vancouver trip because if it weren’t for them our amazing trip would not have been impossible.

A place full of learning and fun,

Of magic and wonder,

Of people and places to be,

Of ooos and awwwws,

Laughter and tears,

Of science and aquatic life,

Of sports and mountain adventures.

VICTORIA

A place of government and bug zoos,

Of history museums and artwork,

Of salt water and shells,

Of sea creatures and historical architecture.

And I got to experience the wonder of both places; all thanks to the teachers and parents, who donated time and money, for helping us raise enough money to go.

My classmates and I can’t thank you enough!
