Artists’ work on display

THe Kettle River Artists held their annual art show last weekend to coincide with Arts and Culture Week.

Among the many exhibits and displays patrons enjoyed the sculpture by Paul Schleicher at the 2nd annual Kettle River Art Show in the Rock Creek pavilion last Saturday.

The Kettle River Artists hosted their second annual Art Show last Saturday at the Rock Creek Pavilion.

The show was held in conjunction with B.C. Arts and Culture Week (April 20-26).

There were displays and workshops in water colour, tissue paper collage, pastels and finger-painting.

The Singing Kettles were there in the morning and Ellen Tolson provided music in the afternoon.

Work by students in the District 51 Aboriginal Education Program were there as well. Inuksucks made with sand dough by Mrs. Macfarlane’s Kindergarten/ Grade 1 class and Mrs. Hanson at Midway Elementary; Cornhusk Dolls were made by the Grade 4/5 class at Greenwood Elementary and Mrs. Hanson under the direction of guest presenter Taress Alexis.

There were also Fusion Glass Pendants and Mosaic Coasters made by Grade 5 students at West Boundary under guidance by guest artist Cindy Alblas; and Moonsticks created by the Grade 4/5 class at Greenwood Elementary.

Totem Shields on rawhide – in many stages of completion were also on display from Mrs. Fraser and Mrs. Herdman’s Grade 6/7 class at West Boundary.
