~~~~~~
I am pleased to announce that I will be joining your community as the physician at the Greenwood medical clinic, beginning Dec. 1.
Myself and the City of Greenwood are working hard to provide you with an updated and modern medical clinic to meet your health care needs. There are many exciting changes happening to the clinic; the medical clinic will now be located in the upstairs of the building you’re familiar with, with the building undergoing a renovation, new equipment being installed and we are transitioning to electronic medical records.
Needless to say we are rushing to get all of this done prior to the clinic opening in December. I thank you for your patience in the first few months, as we transition to working in this new space.
To tell you about myself, I am originally from Edmonton. I first came through Grand Forks as part of my medical training during my residency. I moved to the area in 2012 and have been here since. For the past six months I have been practicing full-time emergency medicine at Boundary Hospital in Grand Forks, as well as working regular ER shifts in Nelson and Trail. I will now be in the Greenwood clinic two days per week; these days will generally be Mondays and Thursdays although this will change occasionally.
Lori Kirkwood will be joining the clinic as medical office assistant, and will be there from Monday to Thursday. We will start booking appointments the week before the clinic opens.
The clinic will currently be restricted to residents of Greenwood and current patients of the clinic, to ensure adequate clinic access for Greenwood residents. I ask that over the next few months, patients of the clinic please book a “meet and greet” appointment with me so that I could get to know you and go through your paper records to learn your health history.
Thank you to the City of Greenwood for working with me to bring you a modern clinic, and thank you to Dr. Figurski for looking after your medical care in this transition period.
Until we meet, please stay active, and enjoy the lovely fall colours!
Dr. Michael Slatnik,
Greenwood Medical Clinic
