McKinnon, Irene Gwendolyn (Gwen) June 30, 1936 - May 11, 2014 passed away following an arduous 13 year journey with breast cancer surrounded by family at Moog & Friends Hospice House, Penticton, BC. Gwen is survived by her husband Alexander McKinnon (Sandy) of 60 years; children, Laura Rooney (Mike), Matt (Trudy), Cliff (Gay), Clayton (Heather), Bev Conquergood (Kevin Weninger); 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; brothers, Don Nielsen (Lorraine), Wayne Nielsen (Val); numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents Rudolf and Elly Nielsen. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Boundary Pavillion, Fairgrounds, Rock Creek, BC on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 1:30 pm. The family wishes to thank Dr. Hughes and the wonderful nurses, staff, and volunteers at Hospice for their outstanding compassionate care and understanding.
