DOLLY MILLER

February 4, 2017

Dolly Miller (Angelica Adelaide)

January 27, 1920 - February 4,2017

Dolly passed away peacefully in Haven Hill nursing home in Penticton, February 4, 2017, of natural causes. She celebrated her 97th birthday 8 days before. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised by her grandparents with 2 aunts about her age... the three were inseparable. She had many fun stories of this time. She married Eldred George Miller on July 21, 1937 on Grandpa’s farm. They lived in Manitoba (Lauder, Deleau), Alberta (Busby, Hythe, Namao), B.C. (Pouce Coupe, Greenwood, Kettle Valley, Midway). Dolly lived in Midway, Grand Forks, and Penticton after Eldred’s passing in 1995. The flood of Christmas cards each year was evidence of the many friendships made.

As a minister’s wife, she frequently played the organ/piano for services, funerals and weddings. She played an active role in the church, especially in women’s and girl’s groups. Still she always had time to enjoy her kids.

She took painting lessons, was a good seamstress and cook, and made numerous quilts and sweaters, the latter sent to Mexico (75) for needy children.

Her keen sense of humour and general contentment were especially manifest in her later years. Although she had many challenges in the later years, she chose to recount the good times and the happy times with humor and laughter! This was evident and appreciated at the visits with family and friends, which she greatly anticipated and enjoyed. In her dying days, she showed dignity and class!

Dolly is predeceased by her husband, Eldred, and a son, Kenneth. She is survived by 2 daughters, Caroline Stewart (Mike) and Sue Marston (Bob); and by 5 sons, Bob (Barb), Bill (Ellen), Evan (Julie), Lauren (Ruth) and Arden (Marti). She has 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is now alive forevermore. She will be missed here, but she is with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, whom she loved.

Celebration of Life service will be held July 15, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Midway Hall.
