Note that the Highway 33 corridor is still under Evacuation Order. The following areas are now under Evacuation Alert: 1. East and north of the Kettle River and south of the North-East boundary of Kettle River Provincial Park described in more detail below has, therefore, been rescinded: • Kettle River East Road • Nicholson Creek Road • Kettle Valley South Road; 2. South side of the Kettle River to the bridge crossing the Kettle River at Rock Creek, and then along the south side of Rock Creek Cutoff Road and Highway3; and 3. 7am - RDKB announced Kettle River Provincial Park campers returned to campsite yesterday - all vehicles and camp gear recovered - campers have gone home

9am - RDKB - We can confirm that 30 homes were lost to the fire with 11 additional properties where structures other than homes were damaged or lost. We are contacting homeowners that lost homes. Residents within the affected area can call (250) 368-0254 for information. Evacuation Orders have been downgraded to Evacuation Alerts for the Highway 3 corridor through Rock Creek. The Evacuation Alert area includes 88 homes/businesses that residents can return to. Check DriveBC http://www.drivebc.ca/#listView for current conditions on Highway 3. Evacuation Orders are still in effect for the Highway 33 corridor from Rock Creek to the south intersection of Blythe-Rhone Road. The RCMP continues to patrol evacuated areas to ensure safety and security. Every effort is being made to return Kettle River Provincial Park evacuees to their vehicles and belongings. The plan is to return people to the park escorted in small groups and to start that process sometime today.

12:30am - Highway 3 from Osoyoos to Midway has been re-opened to traffic.

The Rock Creek wild fire is still at 3,750 hectares and is zero per cent contained.

With winds and smoke dissipating, this morning we were able to more accurately map the fire size. It's currently an estimated 3,750 hectares.
There is a potential for thunderstorm activity and significant wind gusts through the region tonight which may increase fire behaviour and growth.
