Bird count needs volunteers

A call goes out for volunteers to help with the annual bird count.

Boundary resident Fred Marshall has put out a call for volunteers to assist in the Greenwood area Christmas bird count.

“We need some willing bird enthusiasts to help in our local Christmas bird count,” he said in an email to the Times. He explained that the “Greater Greenwood

Area” extends from Eholt west to Boundary Falls and up the side roads; Boundary Creek, Lind Creek, McCarron Creek etc.

“You don’t have to been an expert in bird identification,” Marshall says reassuringly; “an avid interest in wildlife is all that’s necessary. And, once one starts counting you get to know the birds much better.”

Anyone who would be willing to participate please contact Fred Marshall at 250-445-6496 for count protocol and area.
